Launching BBEC from a keyboard shortcut from within Visual Studio

For a while now I have been using this keyboard shortcut and it is so convenient! First off let’s start by creating a macro in visual studio that will launch BBEC. Let’s create two macros, one called LaunchBBEC that we can put in a common file and then another called LaunchLocal, (code is below). Now let’s create a keyboard shortcut that can map to these macros. Keyboard shortcuts can be created via the Tools –> Options dialog menu, (screenshots are below).

The added abstraction of keeping LaunchBBEC separate comes in really handy because I am keep separate macro files, one for each project I’m on.

Sub LaunchBBEC(ByVal url As String)
        System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe", url)
End Sub

Sub LaunchLocal()
        LaunchBBEC("http://localhost/UM/browser/Blackbaud.AppFx.Browser.application")
End Sub
